What is a Welch Information Suite?

Formerly known as "touchdown suites", Welch Information Suites are part of a model for providing efficient, professional information resources and services for patrons where they work: on Johns Hopkins campuses and across the world.

A " suite " can be a physical location that promotes collaboration between information professionals and faculty, staff and students.
It can be a virtual collection such as a digital library.

Or it can be a flexible, collaborative educational format for exchanging skills and information.

Welch Information Suite for Oncology

Welch Library staff and Oncology faculty are piloting a "virtual" portal for patient information. The Welch Information Suite for Oncology is a digital collection on brain tumor information designed to support information exchanges between clinical staff and patients. Its internet address is http://www.braintumor.jhmi.edu and can also be found on 2200 clinical workstations on the IT@Hopkins Intranet page: http://www.insidehopkinsmedicine.org/jpl/. Eventually, the virtual portal will be available directly to patients in a physical space devoted to patient education needs.

In addition, a Collaborative Series of Workshops on Research and Library Services is coordinated by The Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center and The Welch Medical Library
