Two committees, both chaired by the Vice Dean for Education, represent the primary users of the library and are charged with advising the Library Director.
The Welch Library Advisory Committee - Finance includes the Welch Library Director and the Associate Director for Finance and Administration, the Vice Dean for Education, the Dean of University Libraries as well as representatives from the various constituencies served, particularly those with a background in finance and administration. The committee meets twice per year and is charged with:
- Overseeing annual budget and other fiscal matters
- Making recommendations concerning library policies, especially substantive changes in services and fees
- Acting as a sounding board for potential new library initiatives
Members of the Finance Group are:

The Welch Library Advisory Committee - Service includes the Welch Library Director, the Vice Dean for Education, the Director of Library Services at Johns Hopkins Bayview, the Associate Director of Library Services at the Milton S. Eisenhower Library at Homewood, a student from the School of Medicine, as well as high level representatives from the constituencies served. The committee meets three times per year and is charged with:
- Making recommendations concerning library policies, especially substantive changes in services and fees
- Ensuring that the library is providing balanced services across the areas of teaching, research, and patient care
- Acting as a sounding board for potential new library initiatives
- Acting as advocates for the library
