Access Codes

[Free/OA] Journals that provide access free to users or that employ an open access submission and publication model in which the author pays to submit, but users view the peer-reviewed publication without charge.

[JHMI] JHMI Only (IPs for JHMI)

[JHMIB] JHMI and Bayview Medical Center (IPs for JHMI and Bayview)

[HCGH] Howard County General Hoispital (IPs for HCGH)

[JHS] Johns Hopkins Singapore (Proxy access only)

[JHMIBW] JHMI, Bayview and Homewood (IPs for JHMI, Bayview and Homewood)

[JHU] Johns Hopkins U.S. Community (All Hopkins U.S. IPs or remote access by all authorized users)

[KKI] kennedy Krieger Institute (IPs for KKI)

This is the availability policy for those resources that are accessed from a computer directly connected to the JHU network.

Access is controlled by the Internet Protocol (IP) domain. This means that access is restricted to computers that have a Hopkins IP address. Any computer connected, whether by direct connection on campus or via the modem pool, will gain access to these restricted ([JHMI]) materials. You can use the SPH modem pool (410-327-3705) if you have an account with SPH.

Some electronic resources are paid for by individual Hopkins libraries, rendering them only accessible by those users who are eligible and connect directly to the library that has paid for the subscription. JHMI Only ([JHMI]) typically indicates that these resources can only be accessed by the students, staff and faculty of the East Baltimore Campus. Items with [JHMIB] indicate that these materials can only be accessed at JHMI and at Bayview. Materials marked with the [JHU] key indicate that those materials are available for all of the Johns Hopkins University U.S. community: JHMI, Bayview Medical Center, HCGH, and the Homewood Campus.

Patrons of the Kennedy Krieger Institute can access some databases and ejournals such as FirstSearch, SilverPlatter, WilsonWeb and Blackwell, etc.
